The Pond House is a reflective exploration of what it means to live within nature rather than beside it. Set among the rice fields of Ubud, the project dissolves the traditional notion of a single villa volume into a constellation of intimate pavilions. Four private bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, scattered around a central pond of 87m² and connected by stone pathways through lush tropical vegetation.

Water is not decoration here, it is infrastructure. Ponds, fountains and water mirrors cool the air, regulate humidity and create a constant sensory dialogue between architecture and landscape. The east-west breeze flows freely across the site, guided by openings, vegetation and water surfaces. A yoga shala, a sunken terrace and a pergola-covered pool complete a program entirely devoted to slowness and restoration.

On the upper level, the living spaces and master suite orient toward Mount Agung to the north-east framing the sacred volcano as a daily presence. The mono-pitched dark timber roof gives the ensemble a strong, grounded silhouette against the tropical canopy.

A house designed not around comfort, but around harmony.

"Every project begins with a conversation."
